Toast 6 Different Ways

Almonds, raspberries, chickpeas, mushrooms and bananas; what do all of these have in common?  They all make perfect toast toppers! I know some of these sound like strange foods to add to your toast but trust me they are delicious.  So, here’s six ways to take your toast to the next level!

What kind of toast is your favorite? Whether it is sweet or savory I have you covered. I am sharing 3 savory toasts and 3 sweet toasts. All 6 toasts can be whipped up in 10 minutes or less and eaten for breakfast, brunch, snack, or dessert. I personally like to do all 4!

BREADS

The first thing you will want to do is pick out your bread. Most bread contains 4 main ingredients flour, water, salt, and yeast which are all vegan. However, when checking the ingredients you will want to make sure the bread does not have added non-vegan ingredients like milk, butter, or eggs.  I just like to always double check the back of the package for the ingredient list to make sure.

Here are some of my go-to breads that I like to use for toast. I personally think all of these taste wonderful for both savory and sweet toasts.

Sourdough Bread

White Bread

Whole Wheat

12 Grain

Sliced Baguette

Ezekiel

MASHED AVOCADO + SEASONED CHICKPEAS

This toast is layered with mashed avocado and topped with seasoned chickpeas. These chickpeas are seasoned with chili powder, garlic powder, and cumin. To make these chickpeas crispy I heated a pan on medium heat. Then add  all the seasoned chickpea ingredients and saute for 4-5 minutes until the chickpeas are slightly crispy. Add the chickpeas to the top of your mashed avocado and top with salt and pepper.

CREAM CHEESE TOMATO + DRIZZLED BALSAMIC  VINEGAR + FRESH BASIL

Layer this toast with creamy cream cheese and sliced tomatoes then drizzle it with balsamic vinegar and top with fresh basil, salt, and pepper. For the cream cheese I used dairy-free cream cheese. If you do not have fresh basil you can substitute it with dried basil or oregano.

MASHED AVOCADO + SAUTEED MUSHROOMS + THYME

Buttery mashed avocado spread on toast and topped with sauteed mushrooms and dried thyme. The best part about this toast is how flavorful the mushrooms are with the mashed avocado. Also when the mushrooms are sliced thinly it only takes 3-4 minutes to saute making a quick and easy savory toast. If you don’t have dried thyme I recommend using fresh thyme or crushed red pepper flakes.

PEANUT BUTTER BUTTER BANANAS +SLICED ALMONDS + COCONUT

Thick and creamy peanut butter, sliced banana, sliced almonds, and shredded coconut. Such a dreamy combination that will not only satisfy your sweet tooth will keep you feeling full.

SUNFLOWER BUTTER + MAPLE SYRUP + PECANS + PISTACHIOS + CHOCOLATE

Breakfast or dessert? I love eating this delicious toast for both! This toast is topped with sunflower butter, pecans, pistachios, dark chocolate chips, and maple syrup. Substitute the sunflower for any kind of nut butter that you have on hand.

VANILLA YOGURT + BERRIES + ALMONDS

Light, refreshing, and vibrant berry toast. This toast is layered with vanilla yogurt, blackberries, raspberries, and almonds. Substitute the berries for any type of berries you have on hand like strawberries or blueberries. Want it a little sweeter? Drizzle maple syrup on top of the berries.

When you make these toasts I would love for you to snap a photo and share it with me on instagram @itsallgoodvegan.  I can’t wait to hear from you!
