Homemade Mango Sorbet

Warm breezes, vibrant sunsets, and the aroma of ripe mangoes in the air—it must be mango season! And what better way to celebrate this tropical delight than with a homemade mango sorbet?

Picture this: You’re lounging under a shady palm tree, the golden sun kissing your skin as you indulge in a frozen treat that transports you straight to paradise. That’s the magic of mango sorbet—a blend of sweet, tangy goodness that captures the essence of summer in every spoonful.

To whip up your own batch of mango sorbet, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients:

  • Ripe mangoes
  • Lime juice
  • Lime zest
  • Optional sweetener (such as maple syrup or honey if your not vegan)
  • Optional creaminess booster (a splash of coconut milk)

Instructions:

  1. Prep your mangoes: Start by peeling and chopping your ripe mangoes into chunks. Spread them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and pop them in the freezer until they’re firm and icy. You can skip this part and buy already packaged frozen mango at your grocery store.
  2. Blend it up: Once your mango chunks are frozen solid, transfer them to a food processor or blender. Add a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice about two teaspoons and a sprinkle of lime zest for an extra burst of flavor.
  3. Optional sweetener: At this point, you have the choice to enhance the sweetness of your sorbet by adding a drizzle of maple syrup. I personally think the mangos are naturally sweet enough. This step is entirely optional and depends on your preference for sweetness.
  4. Creaminess upgrade: For those craving a creamier texture, consider adding a splash of coconut milk to the mix. This addition lends a velvety smoothness to your sorbet that’s simply irresistible.
  5. Blend until smooth: Pulse or blend the mixture until it reaches a silky smooth consistency, with no lumps or chunks in sight. You can eat it like this or chill it out.
  6. Chill out: Transfer your freshly blended sorbet into a container and pop it back in the freezer for an hour or two to firm up.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Once your sorbet has reached the perfect scoopable consistency, grab a spoon and dig in! Whether you’re lounging poolside or hosting a backyard barbecue, this mango sorbet is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

And there you have it—your ticket to tropical bliss in a bowl! With its irresistible combination of sweet mangoes, zesty lime, and optional creamy indulgence, this homemade mango sorbet is the ultimate summer indulgence. So go ahead, whip up a batch, and savor the taste of summer with every spoonful.
